World Cancer Day is a leading international awareness day which is packaged by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) on the 4th of February every year to raise awareness on cancer and encourage its prevention, detection, and treatment. It unites the world population in its fight against cancer and seeks to save millions of preventable deaths each year by adopting strategies, actions, and education about the disease as well as pressing governments and individuals across the world to take collective action. This global uniting initiative helps to provide life saving cancer treatment and care to all, no matter whom you are or where you live. Created in 2000, David Omenukor Foundation has been the only Foundation in the South-East participating in this program since 2017 through public enlightenment and road walk.

On Sunday this week precisely Aug 21st 2022, Keyna Health Show completed the second and concluded edition of the program on Healthy vision.Healthy Vision refers to a normal visual acuity comprising, clearity and sharpness of vision, measured at a distance of 20 feet. Once you have the visual ability to see clearly at a distance of 20 feet, then you can be described as having a 20/20 vision.
The eyes are generally regarded as the most important sense organ because more than 80% of our impressions start from the sight. Moreover we cannot complete our daily activities without our eyes. Even if other senses like the hearing and smelling parks up, our sight can fill up to 50% of the gap and protect us from dangerous environment.
Eyesight focuses on capturing images and objects in the eyes, while vision is the processing, analyzing and interpretation of these images and objects in the brain into discernable and understandable information.
Despite the importance of our eyes, many people take their vision for granted. The average person developes his/her eyesight and uses it throughout their life, rarely giving it much thought, except when he begins to have problems with it. How can we protect our eyes from damage to ensure it operates optimally? How can we get our sight to function again,if it is already in trouble?
Keyna Health Show Gave the answers to these questions on Sunday, Aug 21, 2022 by 2.00 PM CST and Nigerian Time 8.00 PM.
Some eye Doctors were available to educate the public how to manage and care for this critical sense organ in our body.

October Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a period used to raise awareness about the devastating impact of Breast Cancer. It’s estimated that 7.8 million women have been diagnosed with Breast Cancer in the last five years making it the world’s prevalent cancer. In 2020 about 2.3 million women were diagnosed with cancer globally and about 685,0000 died.( Healthline publication).
The breast cancer challenge in developing countries like Nigeria is pathetic and frightening due to the collapse of the healthcare system exacerbated by bad governance and global economic meltdown.
David Omenukor Foundation has for the past few years been on rescue mission providing free mammogram screening for these vulnerable women who cannot afford a decent meal in a day let alone money for mammogram screening. Consequently most of the women are suffering from the agony and devastation of cancer and avoidable deaths because their cancer condition was not detected early enough. A donation to support this cause can make a world of difference and save one life. DOF is targeting to provide 1000 women with free mammogram screening starting from October. Your financial support and encouragement can change the story.
Please We will appreciate your support on our current project to help indigenous women back home to get free cancer screenings. Here is the link: https://gofund.me/a66432dc. Thank you all for your support.
